CWU ANNOUNCES NEW PETITIONS AND UNION ELECTION VICTORY

WASHINGTON, D.C. (November 18, 2022) – Today, the Congressional Workers Union (CWU) released the following statement after the staff in the office of Congressman Chuy L. García (D-Illinois) voted unanimously 11-0 in their union election.

Additionally, the Congressional Workers Union announced that new petitions for representation have been filed with the Office of Congressional Workplace Rights for the offices of Congresswoman Rashida Tlaib (D-Michigan), Congressman Mark Pocan (D-Wisconsin), and Congressman Mark Takano (D-California).

“As we transition into the 118th Congress, workers are making clear that no matter what party is in the majority–they want a unionized workplace and a seat at the table,” said the Congressional Workers Union. “We congratulate the brave staff in Congressman García's office for their landslide victory, and workers in Congresswoman Rashida Tlaib, Congressman Mark Pocan, and Congressman Mark Takano’s offices for taking the first step to forming their union. We look forward to working with these staunch allies of the labor movement.”
