who we are
Congressional Workers Union is a grass-roots, worker led, independent union representing workers who are fighting for better working conditions and a safer and more democratic workplace for congressional staff across the U.S. Congress. We are brought together by our shared mission to improve working conditions for ourselves and our peers through unionization. Our Executive Board is made up of 15 full time Congressional staff members. Some of us work in the House, and some in the Senate; some work in Member offices, some on committees.
Why we are organizing
While not all workplaces face the same conditions, we strongly believe that to better serve our constituents will require meaningful changes to improve retention, equity, diversity, and inclusion on Capitol Hill. That starts with having a voice in the workplace.
